BS2009 WORKSHOP

I will be presenting a 1-day workshop at the Building Simulation 2009 conference in Glasgow on Friday the 31st of July, 2009. This will cover the use of BIM data for a range of different types of performance analysis and the best ways to convert and transfer what you need.

Sessions

Session 0ne
(09:00-10:30)

Importing/Exporting BIM Data

Session Two
(11:00-12:30)

Shading and Solar Radiation

Session Three
(13:30-15:00)

Daylight and Rights-to-Light

Session Four
(15:30-17:00)

Thermal and Energy Analysis

Overview

The submitted description of the workshop is a follows:

This workshop covers workflows required for the effective and efficient use of building information models (BIM) for detailed performance analysis. It considers the kinds of model information required for different types of analysis as well as appropriate methods for exporting that information to a range of simulation and analysis tools. Participants will carry out a series of analytical studies including overshadowing, solar radiation, daylight, thermal performance and air-flow simulations.

The workshop focuses mainly on workflows between Autodesk Revit Architecture, Revit MEP, Ecotect Analysis, Green Building Studio, 3DS Max Design and other simulation tools. Trial copies of Autodesk Revit Architecture, 3DS Max Design and Ecotect Analysis will be available on the day for those without this software on their laptops.

Prerequisites

Participants must bring their own laptop with Microsoft Windows XP or Vista operating systems. If you choose to pre-load your laptop with some of the Autodesk trial software, please do not do so more that 30 days before the workshop or your trial period will run out. CDs with the required training material will be available on the day.
