BIM. Tables

A core class for parametrically generating table geometry.

This class provides a basic set of parameters for defining the core characteristics of a table and generates a very simply block representation that is just enough to visually indicate that an element is a table, which may be entirely suitable for some design aesthetics.

Other classes can build in this infrastructure to define additional parameters and generate more detailed and specific parametric table forms.

new Tables( [config] [, typeName])

Creates a new basic table representation.

Parameters:

An optional configuration object.

A universally unique identifier of this component.

productRef string <optional>

The product reference number or identifier..

description string <optional>

A brief product or type description.

supplier BIM.Supplier <optional>

An optional supplier details data object.

depth number <optional>

The size/diameter of table tops not defined by a closed path in mm, default to 900mm or 3'.

height number <optional>

The height to the top of the table above its path in mm, defaults to 740mm or 2'5".

topThickness number <optional>

The thickness of the table/bench top in mm, defaults to 25mm or 1".

legOffset number <optional>

The relative offset of the leg along the table edge (0 to 1).

legInset number <optional>

The distance to inset each leg from the table edge in mm, defaults to 25mm or 1".

legCount number <optional>

The number of legs in a round table, defaults to zero which means automatic.

legSpan number <optional>

The maximum span between legs in mm, defaults to 1800mm or 6'.

legSize number <optional>

The size/diameter of the table legs in mm, defaults to 25mm or 1".

isRound boolean <optional>

Whether or not the table is to be made round.

typeName string <optional>

An additional parameter typically used by subclasses to set the component type name without modifying the config object.

className <readonly>

The name of the subclass for this object instance.

This name must match the name of this class within the PD.Registry. Thus, the base implementation simply references this.constructor.getClassName() to ensure that this is always the case even for subclasses. As a result, there is rarely any need to override this method.

This property is used when copying, storing and exporting data for subclass instances to ensure that they are recreated as instances of the right class.

depth

The depth/diameter of the table top when not defined by a closed path in mm, defaults to 900mm or 3'.

  • For a round table, this is its diameter.
  • For a table that follows an open path, this is the depth of the extruded table area.
  • For a table defined by a closed path, this has no effect.

isLocked

Whether or not this component's parameters are fixed.

This property is used by the UI and framework to indicate that the component's parameters are fixed and therefore not editable. It is typically set by a 3rd-party manufacturer or supplier on products that they can only provide in one configuration.

For example, there is no point specifying a particular manufacturer's fridge and then adjusting its width to fit a hole in your cabinetry if that manufacturer cannot actually supply a fridge of that width.

Thus, when this property is true, you will not be able to edit the parameters, but you can always duplicate the component (or its configuration), but without the supplier details if you really do want to modify it.

Whether or not the table is to stay round.

Being round means that each edge is made equidistant and equiangle around the center of the table.

LAST_CHAIR_ATTRIB <static, readonly>

The name of the attribute for storing the last chair element.

This attribute stores the previous chair element associated with the the table, allowing chairs to be toggled on/off without having to recreate new element and type component objects each time. This chair reference is stored as an attribute of the table element using this string value as the key.

LEG_SPAN_ATTRIB <static, readonly>

The name of the attribute for storing table leg span data.

When a table has chairs distributed along its path, they need to be positioned between table legs so that they can partially fit under the table. This leg span data is stored as an attribute of the table element using this string value as the key.

Provides a list of dynamic parameter groups for the component name, description and supplier.

Checks to resize a round table whenever one of its junctions is moved.

This method is useful for checking if the component has a particular method before attempting to call it, thereby avoiding potential runtime errors. It is used within the framework to check for the presence of life-cycle methods in an element's type component before delegating them.

updateDynamicParameters(param, group)

Sets the dynamic parameter value and returns true if it changed.

Most subclasses don't need to override this method as it automatically detects changes and rebuilds the element/component and model when required. However, if you do need to add your own custom logic or intercept the return value, please read the following examples carefully and use whichever best suits your needs.

NOTE: When overriding this method, you may not want to call super.updateDynamicParameters(param, group) as the parent class may have added its own logic that may interfere with what you want to do. Instead, either use the static PD.Base.updateDynamicParametersOnHost method to check if the value changed, or base it on the third example which replicates the code in that static method.
